Maintenance of Mining High-Voltage Cables

Mining high-voltage cables are the "lifeline" of the power supply system in underground mines, and their operating status is directly related to production safety and operational efficiency. The special underground environment, which is humid, dusty and prone to mechanical impacts, can easily accelerate cable aging and damage. Therefore, scientific maintenance is crucial. This article sorts out the core maintenance points to provide a practical guide for ensuring the stable operation of cables.

Daily inspection is the foundation of maintenance. A regular inspection mechanism should be established. Operation and maintenance personnel regularly inspect along the cable laying path, focusing on checking whether there are damages or extrusion marks on the cable sheath, and whether there is heating or oil seepage at the joints. Use an infrared thermometer to detect cable temperature and an insulation resistance tester to regularly test insulation performance. Timely handle problems such as decreased insulation resistance and abnormal temperature to prevent minor hidden dangers from developing into major faults.

Strengthen environmental protection and laying management. For the humid underground environment, it is necessary to do a good job in sealing and moisture-proof treatment of cable joints and terminations, and select special mining explosion-proof seals to prevent moisture intrusion from accelerating insulation aging. Standardize the cable laying path, keep away from sharp rocks, rotating equipment parts and water dripping points, and install protective sleeves at corners to reduce wear; cables in transportation roadways should be suspended and fixed in accordance with standards to avoid being crushed or collided by mine cars.

Pay attention to joint maintenance and idle management. Cable joints are high-fault areas. It is necessary to regularly check the tightness of the joints, clean the surface dust and oil stains, and ensure good contact. For long-term idle cables, they should be properly stored in a dry and ventilated place to avoid moisture and extrusion deformation. A full set of performance tests must be completed before reusing them. At the same time, establish a complete maintenance file, record inspection data, fault handling and replacement, to provide a basis for subsequent maintenance.

Scientific maintenance can effectively extend the service life of mining high-voltage cables and reduce the failure rate. Only by implementing daily inspections, environmental protection, joint maintenance and other work in place can we build a solid safety line for the power supply system in underground mines.
