How to Select Mine Explosion-Proof Junction Boxes? Selection Guide for Low-Voltage Cable Laying
Mine explosion-proof low-voltage cable junction boxes are core safety components of underground coal mine low-voltage power supply systems, mainly used for connection and branching of power, lighting and signal cables. Underground mines contain flammable and explosive media such as gas and coal dust, featuring humid, dusty and complex working conditions. Improper selection of junction boxes may easily cause electric leakage and spark leakage risks. Standard selection according to laying scenarios is essential to ensure stable underground power supply and meet mine safety specifications.
The primary selection principle is to match electrical parameters to avoid overload hazards. It is necessary to strictly comply with the rated working conditions of the circuit, adapting to common low-voltage levels such as 660V and 1140V. Select corresponding current specifications including 25A, 40A, 100A and 400A according to cable loads, preventing overload operation and overheating faults caused by mismatched models. Meanwhile, match the cable aperture with the outer diameter of the cable to ensure tight sealing, prevent dust and water ingress, and conform to the standard of underground 50Hz AC low-voltage power supply lines.

Secondly, verify explosion-proof qualifications and protection grades to ensure full compliance. Mine equipment must obtain official mining safety certification with the explosion-proof mark complying with the Ex d I Mb mine standard, which can withstand internal explosion impact and isolate flame leakage. Models with IP65 protection grade and WF1 corrosion resistance are preferred to adapt to humid, dusty and corrosive underground environments, avoiding shell rust and sealing failure, maintaining long-term electrical insulation and explosion-proof performance, and ensuring smooth passing of mine safety inspections.
Finally, select structural types according to actual laying requirements. Choose two-way, three-way and four-way structures to meet linear connection and multi-path shunting demands. High-strength cast steel shells are recommended for excellent compression and impact resistance to adapt to collision and extrusion in roadway environments. Integrated sealing structures and anti-oxidation terminals ensure firm connection and stable contact. Following the selection principles of parameter matching, explosion-proof compliance and working condition adaptation can effectively eliminate power supply hazards and guarantee long-term stable operation of underground low-voltage cable systems.
